Brother Bryan K. Kincade

 -2000-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officers was held on December 12, 1999 and the musical entertainment was soloist Linn Ray Johnson accompanied by Hersie Stovall Jr. After the ceremonies there was a receiving line and dinner was held in the dining hall.

In January it was decided by motion and vote to give $500.00 to two different schools for the purpose of sending students to a trip to Washington D.C.

In February Bro. Bill Lyons was elected to membership by affiliation and the special thing about this was that his two sons who were at the time Clovis Lodge's newest Master Mason's had signed their fathers application. Also it was a night of reports from everyone it seemed.

On February 14th the Grand Master of Mason's, Most Worshipful Alvin J. Weiss, came to Clovis Lodge and officiated over our Widow's Night and a wonderful night of Masonry was displayed with his speech and with the care and concern he showed for all of the Widow's present. He pinned several different women and presented a rose and a hug to them all. This evening was actually the work of the Junior Past Master Bro. Leroy Foote and his wife Jeanne.

On February 19th Clovis Lodge started another tradition. We went to Cambria and performed a third degree in conjunction with San Simeon Lodge 196. Bro. Ken Bryson received his third degree after receiving his two prior degrees since Jan.20th of this same year. He was made a Master Mason in just under a month.

In April it was decided by motion and vote to spend $16,000.00 on the Lodge for new Air Conditioners for the Lodge room and new tables for the dining hall and to remodel the dining hall. It was also decided to send $100.00 to Clovis West Senior Night program for a sober graduation.

In May it was decided to spend $275.00 for a Child ID banner and canopy to be used with the Child ID booth. It was also decided to subsidize the amount given to all of the choirs who had performed at the Clovis Lodge Choir Nights to the sum of $225.00 per school.

On June 2nd a spaghetti dinner was prepared for Miramonte Elementary School and 11 members of Clovis Lodge were present to make an excellent showing for Clovis Lodge. The money was used to put up a rest stop on a new walk way that had been constructed through the town of Clovis.

At the June stated meeting Clovis Lodge was visited by Senior Grand Warden, Right Worshipful C. Ray Whitaker, and many reports were given about the amount of time energy and efforts that were being spent working with the Clovis Unified School District and what an impact it was starting to have on the Lodge.

In July Bro. J.C. Butcher received the very first "Mason of the Year" award given out by the the Fresno Valley of the Scottish Rite. This was a program designed by the Scottish Rite to stay in touch with the blue lodges in their area.

On June 17th Bro. Robert T. Lewis Jr., Past Master/ Secretary, received the coveted Hiram Award for all of his efforts towards Clovis Lodge. Bro. Bob is the Secretary of Clovis Lodge and dedicates many hours over and beyond what he is paid to do as Secretary. Other than the heat it was a very nice evening...hehehe I lost 9 pounds that evening! :)

In July it was necessary to rename the Temple Association and the new name chosen was the Clovis Lodge Management Company. It was also approved to spend $3500.00 for a double sided marquis sign. Bros. from Visalia- Mineral King Lodge 128 came to claim the traveling gavel.

There were four flag presentations announced for the four schools that we had adopted as of August. They were to be held on August 29, 30, 31st and September 1st. This program was the brainchild of Madera Lodge 280 and Clovis Lodge decided that it fit right into their school program. All of the flags were flown over the United States Capital for the Schools.

At the stated meeting in September, Senior Warden Brad Bradway, stepped up to the plate as Master while I was home recovering from heart attack's. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the brethren who were so concerned and that helped Donetta and I at our time of anguish.

In all there were four cornerstones performed in Clovis this year with 2 different Grand Masters. There were so many Grand Lodge officers running around Clovis Lodge so often that we thought we were going to have to start charging them dues! hehehe

At the annual Roll Call dinner in December there were 13 candles lit for the departed brethren of this year. As the Secretary called their names the Senior Deacon extinguished their flames. And so another year at Clovis Lodge comes to a close.

At the stated meeting in December there were discussions about balancing the budget and it was passed by motion and vote to move money from one item to another to cover the shortages. It was also passed by motion and vote to donate some of our old officers aprons and collars to the new Prince Hall lodge that was under dispensation.

Brethren lost in this year were Bro's. Marvin Earl Brooks, James Theodore Cozby, Harold Frederick Jackson, Arvid Gustav Johnson, Wayne Francis Kennedy, Lambert Klaucke, Elijah Glen Mosier PM of Clovis Lodge, Deane Francis Parker, Watson Albert Reagan, Earl John Roque, Carl Donald Smith PM of Clovis Lodge, Silas Cleo Taylor and Robert Ellsworth Woods.
